Some mornings go differently than planned

Dear Relevant Girls . . 

This morning I was at the airport.  Waiting to board the airplane to The Relevant Conference.  I was so so excited to go!!  I was planning on meeting new friends and hugging old friends.

We started homeschooling our 2 boys this fall so I was looking forward to soaking up a bunch of wisdom from Sally Clarkson and Ann Voskamp

As I was waiting to board the plane, I just heard a little whisper inside of me saying. .

don't go.  You don't need to be there.    I've got another plan for you, for your family this weekend.  TRUST ME.

Oh but I really want to be there.  The doors are about to close, my suitcase is already gone.  The flight attendant looking at me will think I'm a freak.

Then right behind me is the guy who took my boarding pass asking me if he can help.

I decided right then.  Yes, can I get off the plane.  I need to be home.   

This sort of travel interrupted thing has happened before.  No reason, no need that I could see or know of. Just an obedience.  A listening.  A Hearing and a Do-ing.

I called my husband.  Can you guys come back and get me?

I was really really looking forward to it.  Last year at Relevant was awesome and amazing in every way and I would LOVE to go next year!!  I can't wait to read your posts about everything you learned!!!

But right now this weekend. . .  I know my husband is honored and my kids are feeling extra loved on that mom will be home.  

And I am really excited to see what God's got planned instead.  I may not ever find out this side of heaven.  and I'm ok with that too.  

Sharing a Meal

Have you been reading any of the 31 day posts this month?  Hundreds of bloggers have committed to write about one thing for the entire month of October.  Every day.  Wow.  

My friend Sheila at Eat2Gather is writing about meal sharing.  You don't want to miss this.  She has great recipes for sharing and awesome stories about blessings others with the gift of food.  And. . she is hosting a giveaway!

Last week I had an opportunity to share a meal with my neighbor.  She had surgery in August, yes, August and since we had been out of town so much that month I didn't see her right away.  I got busy and didn't bring her family a meal until last week.  I hesitated a bit before I asked if that would be ok since I was feeling bad that I waited so long.  But I could tell that she was still not feeling the greatest when I saw her so I apologized and let her know that I was so sorry that I hadn't done this earlier, would she still like something?  YES. she said Yes Yes Yes!

A meal is always welcome.  It wasn't fancy just chicken cooked up some spagetti sauce over noodles.  I got the recipe from the Pioneer Woman

and this yummy plate. . .gooey bars. . .

so easy here's what you do.

1 box cake mix and 10 T melted butter

spread into pan.  top with 2 cups marshmallows, 1 cup plain m&m's, 1 cup chocolate chips, 1 cup butterscotch chips.

Bake at 350 for 8 minutes.

Her family loved them.  And it was still a welcome treat!

I love pictures.  I especially love pictures of my family.  Pictures of life.  I have been inspired to link up with Jeannett for Instagram friday and share a little bit of our life.

My honey and I went to Chicago for the weekend.  We stopped at a cheese shop for snacks for the hotel room.  Yum!  This was actually LAST weekend.  I started to write this post and then well, Life Happened.

this paper came home from school with my youngest daughter.  She told me all about the letter R and what was in the picture.  A wooster, a wake, a wocket, a wing, a wope, short pause and an I don't know what that is mom. I looked closer and went oh my gosh of course you don't know what that last item is.  Go ask your brother.  See if her knows.

She asked her next oldest brother - he's 8.  He said a rooster, a rake, a rocket, a ring, a rope and another short pause on the last item pictured.  No idea.

She asked her next oldest brother - he's 11.  He said a rooster, a rake, a rocket, a ring, a rope and Oh man I know what that is, I can't think of the name of it!!

She asked her oldest sister - she's 14.  She knew.  It's a record:)

My plans are many . . . + giveaway

oh this one is so for me.  

I think out of all the prints in the heart collection the She Knew that Many were the plans in her heart, but that God's purpose would prevail is speaking especially loud.  This is so my verse in this season of my life.  I have plans.  Lots of plans. 

Plans for travel.  Plans for RedLetterWords.   Plans to scrapbook each of my kid's lives into separate books.  Plans for homeschool.  Plans to cook yummy, healthy meals from scratch for my family every night.  Plans to lose 10 pounds.  Plans to go to book club on the 2nd Monday of every month and actually have read the book.  Plans for becoming awesome at social media (that was a little joke because I don't really want to become awesome at social media, I just think I should be awesome at social media:). Plans for giving.  Plans to make a difference.  Plans for bible study on Tuesday mornings and Moms in Touch prayer group.  Plans to train for a marathon.  Plans to decorate and DIY projects. 

All great plans but the word says that God's purpose will prevail in all of them.

But here's the thing.  I want God's plan and His purpose all over everything I do.  I have gone my own way many times.  Not good.  The She Knew. . . plans print is hanging in my office right now. Holley's book is on my nightstand.

My daughter loves to sing.  Loud.  Everywhere.  Today was in the parking lot after grocery shopping.  We may or may not have been late to kindergarten again because of a song.
